For Advertisers
Hear a Blog is open for business. Hear a Blog is open to advertisers. For those willing to advertise in a young startup such as this one, we are offering the sponsorship program which is meant to give you, the advertiser, an amazing deal.
If you become a sponsor you'll get amazingly cheap advertisements for as long as the program lasts and a 30% discount for life. Yes, you read that right. Since our prices will be driven by the market, this means you'll always have a place to advertise for 30% less than market value.
We plan on taking a very limited number of sponsors and then close the program forever. If you are interested, contact us at info@hearablog.com or use our form.
Our current figures
Hear a Blog opened to the public in July 2009. Since then we have been growing steadily every month. The chart below represents our monthly audience. The yellow line for the current month represents the projected number we expect at the end of this month.
Our listeners' response to advertising
Recently, one of our listeners wrote to our first advertiser (Zippan.com, an Australian electronics retailer) about their advertising on Hear A Blog. Below is an excerpt of that e-mail exchange:
Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that the advertising you are using in the Hear-a-Blog service is working.
I use Hear-a-Blog all the time at work, and your ads are compelling...
The next time I need electronics, I'll definitely do some comparison shopping on Zippan!
Thanks for supporting Hear-a-blog, it is much appreciated.

Our key strengths
Audio advertising is enormously more effective than display advertising. During the time that your ad is playing, you have the listener's full attention, as opposed to being a banner that website visitors have been trained to ignore.
In addition to this, we have a further advantage over regular audio advertising in podcasts. Normally,
audio advertising is hired "per episode", and every listener of an episode hears the same ad but at Hear A Blog we treat
each download separately, choosing which ad to send out. This means that even if two listeners download the same "episode"
or blog post, your ad will go out only to the ones that are in your target audience.
It also means you can control exactly how many people will listen to your ad,
removing the risk of an unpopular podcast episode that few people listen to.
This allows you to:
- Target a specific blog, a specific vertical, or even blog posts that contain specific keywords.
- Target listeners in a certain geographic area (one country, several countries, one state, etc.)
- Target one platform. Do you have a product for iPhone? Do you only want people using a Mac to hear your product?
- Purchase ads in a "CPM" model - you choose how many people will listen to your ad, and pay exactly for that.
- Do frequency capping. That is, not showing the ad too many times to the same person over a time period.
- Get precise reports of what posts your ad went out in, when, how many people received it, etc.
- If your ads contain a call to action, you can have different ads and rotate them (even over the same blog post) to test which ones perform better.
The chart below displays our listeners geographic distribution for the last 3 months. Only the top 20 countries are shown:
Ad Creation
If you like, we can record your ads so you don't have to hire your own narrators. We only employ professional narrators who can help give your ad the professional polish it needs, including background music or even local narrators with precisely the accent of your audience.
